Winter Storm Brings Freezing Rain, Wind Gusts to Western Washington

An intense winter storm is sweeping through Western Washington today, with snow, freezing rain, and high winds expected through Wednesday. Temperatures across the lowlands are in the 40s and will rise into the low 50s. However, an atmospheric river is bringing widespread precipitation, transitioning from snow to freezing rain as snow levels rise above the Cascade Passes. Accumulations of up to 0.20 inches of ice are possible. Wind advisories are in effect along the coast and northern areas, with gusts up to 55 MPH. Coastal flooding remains a concern. The storm will continue impacting the region into early Thursday with additional rain expected.
