A Memphis mother is dead and her child was fighting for their life after they were allegedly chased for four miles by a trucker who then plowed into the family car. It was reported by CBS affiliate WREG that the tragic event occurred Sunday just after 4 p.m. when a highway dispute turned into a four-mile chase that culminated in a violent end on the 100 block of Emmaus Way.
“Two vehicles were side-by-side. One of them cut the other one off what we could get so far, and the pickup began following the car,” Hardin County Sherrif Johnny Alexander said. “They tried to get home or get a residence, and that’s when the incident occurred.”
The Sheriff stated that Zoe Johnson, 24, her fiance, and two daughters were driving along Highway 64 just east of Savannah when the accident occurred. According to Alexander, the truck followed the vehicle to Emmaus Way before the driver opened fire which killed Johnson and wounded one of her daughters.
