The Alabama Crimson Tide got some really good news on Tuesday in the form of a major transfer portal commitment.
Former Florida defensive lineman Kelby Collins has committed to Alabama, per Brett Greenberg of Bama247 . Collins entered the transfer portal following the conclusion of UF’s regular season and will have two years of eligibility remaining in Tuscaloosa.
Collins was a four-star prospect out of Gardendale, AL, in 2023 and the Crimson Tide were a strong contender for the in-state product before he ultimately decided to sign with the Gators. He made a splash upon his arrival to Gainesville, totaling 23 combined tackles, 1.5 sacks, and a forced fumble to earn SEC All-Freshman Team honors.
However, his sophomore campaign this season was a different story as the Florida coaching staff decided to move him from edge to interior defensive line. His production and usage took a nosedive to the point where he only appeared in six games for the Gators, totaling just six combined tackles for the entire year.
