ERIE, PA – We will have some rain and wet snow developing through the day, although surface temperatures will remain above freezing. The roadways will be mainly wet with little, if any snow accumulation during the daylight hours.
Minor lake effect snow showers develop by Wednesday night. Expect 1-3 inches over the higher hills, especially on grassy elevated surfaces. Local lake effect tapers to just flurries by Thursday morning. It will be a colder day, as more of a wintry pattern develops.
A fast-moving clipper zips through on Friday, with an area-wide light snow developing, followed by lake effect snow Friday night into Saturday. Much of the region will see a few inches by Friday night into Saturday.
An Arctic front blows through on Friday night, and it will be much colder this weekend. Expect local lake flakes on Saturday, with an additional light fluff accumulation. Lake flakes fizzle late Saturday, with cold December air continuing into Sunday.
Christmas week starts cold and quiet on Monday, then a relatively weak storm system arrives by Christmas Eve. It will be just marginally cold enough to support some wet snow, perhaps just in time for Santa and for a shot at a white Christmas.
