AKRON , Ohio (WJW) — Meeting for the first time since the fatal police involved shooting of Jazmir Tucker on Thanksgiving day, Akron’s Citizens’ Police Oversight Board chairman was inviting public comment and questions.
“I think theres a lot really on all of our shoulders collectively,” Kemp Boyd told Fox 8 News in a one-on-one interview prior to Wednesday’s meeting.

“Obviously you carry a lot of the remorse for the family and grieve for them and what they are having to walk through, live in and to live through not just now, but for what it’s going to look like in the future,” said Boyd.
The Citizens’ Police Oversight Board was created by Akron voters following the fatal police involved shooting of Jayland Walker in June of 2022.
Members work with an independent police auditor to review internal police department investigations of use of force complaints and weigh in on any related disciplinary measures.
