Hazardous Weather Outlook issued for East Tennessee, Southwest Virginia, and Southwest North Carolina

MORRISTOWN — The National Weather Service in Morristown has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for portions of southwest North Carolina, east Tennessee, and southwest Virginia as snow is expected to impact the region starting Friday afternoon and continuing into early Saturday morning.

Light snow accumulations are possible across northeast Tennessee, southwest Virginia, and the higher elevations of the mountains. Areas in southwest Virginia and the East Tennessee mountains are forecast to receive 1 to 3 inches of snow, with locally higher amounts possible.

Travel conditions may become hazardous, particularly on roads traversing higher elevations. The National Weather Service advises motorists to exercise caution and monitor weather updates as the snow event approaches.
