3 arrested in Germantown jewelry store robbery

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Three people have been arrested and charged after a brazen Germantown jewelry store robbery attempt with shots fired Monday.

Johnathan D. Spates, 29 of Memphis; Jackie J. Spears, 34 of Memphis; and Trayneisha N. Hurt, 29 of Memphis, are charged with Aggravated Robbery, Aggravated Assault, and Felony Vandalism.  Hurt is also being charged with False Reporting.

Germantown Police say they have also seized two vehicles involved in the robbery.

Around 1 p.m. Monday, police say a vehicle crashed through the door of Bob Richards Jewelry at 1696 S. Germantown Road.

The suspects were reportedly armed, and shots were fired by staff inside the business. No injuries were reported.

Police are still investigating. They declined to comment further on the case Wednesday.
