The two women who died when two vehicles collided in north Minneapolis on Monday have been identified by authorities.
The crash was reported at around 10:20 a.m., with a vehicle traveling north on Emerson Avenue North striking another car traveling east on 26th Avenue North.
The eastbound car was sent crashing into the bus shelter, and both women inside were killed. Esther Jean Fulks, 53, died at the scene, and Rose Elaine Reece, 57, was taken to North Memorial Healthcare Hospital, where she later died.
The women, both from Minneapolis, died from multiple blunt force injuries.
A man and a woman in the northbound vehicle were also hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, while a 17-year-old boy who was waiting for a bus to go to school suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
According to Minneapolis police, the driver of the northbound vehicle, a 38-year-old woman, was booked into the Hennepin County Jail on Tuesday after she was released from the hospital. She is being held on probable cause for criminal vehicular homicide and has not been officially charged at this time.
