( WJET/WFXP ) — City of Erie residents will have their trash pickups delayed by one day starting Christmas Eve as we enter the holiday stretch.
The city announced the schedule change Wednesday morning along with the start date for Christmas tree pickups with the change starting on Christmas Eve (Dec. 24) and will also be in effect on New Year’s Eve.

For example: if your scheduled collection day is Tuesday, December 24, then your trash/recycling will be picked up on Wednesday, December 25; if your scheduled collection day is Wednesday, December 25, then your trash/recycling will be picked up on Thursday, December 26 and so on.
The delay in pickup will start again on New Year’s Eve the following week and follow the same schedule of pickups being delayed by a day.

The city will also be collecting residents’ Christmas trees from Dec. 25 to Jan. 16 on regularly scheduled pickup days.
