LA Deputy Mayor on Leave After FBI Bomb Threat Raid

Additional Coverage:

The Deputy Mayor of Los Angeles, Brian Williams, has been placed on leave after an investigation determined he may have made a bomb threat against City Hall in September.

The FBI raided Williams’ home on Tuesday as part of the investigation. The LAPD had initially investigated the threat and found no immediate danger, but later referred the case to the FBI.

The investigation determined that Williams was likely responsible for the threat, leading to his suspension.

Williams began working in Mayor Karen Bass’ office in March 2023, overseeing public safety departments. Before that, he led the county’s Sheriff Civilian Oversight Commission.

The ongoing investigation continues, and no further details have been released.
