Car hits woman on 82nd Avenue, marking 69th traffic death in Portland in 2024

PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — A woman is dead after she was hit by a car in Southeast Portland on Wednesday morning, authorities said.

According to Portland police, this death marks the 69th traffic-related fatality in Portland this year.

Officers responded to the crash near SE Powell Boulevard and 82nd Avenue, where they found a woman who had been hit by a car just before 9 a.m.

The driver of the car stayed at the scene and the woman, later identified as 81-year-old Muoi Te Hua, was taken to a nearby hospital.

Investigators said that it appeared like the driver was leaving a parking lot when he struck Hua, but that there were not any signs of impairment involved.
