‘There will never be enough tears or hugs’: Raleigh family grateful for support after house fire

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Despite losing everything in a house fire just weeks before Christmas, a Raleigh family is grateful for a huge outpouring of community support.

Rooms where the Bingham family once laughed, played, and decorated for Christmas are burned and covered in soot after a fire ripped through the family’s home last week.

Allison and Chris Bingham said the community’s kindness is carrying them through the pain of losing almost everything. They’re grateful everyone in their family and their pets are safe.

“This is hard,” Allison said. “This is really hard. But there is joy in [seeing] we’re not alone in life.”

Although Allison said the whole situation remains a bit of a blur, it’s the people she remembers.

“I remember the fireman coming up and telling me to sit,” she said. “I remember someone grabbing my dog and my cat and putting them in the car so they wouldn’t be spooked. I remember someone coming and collecting my children so they didn’t have to witness [the fire].”
