Purple Flag Memorials Honor Lives Lost to Homelessness Across Orange County

As part of the Hunger and Homelessness Awareness season, which runs from Nov. 17 through Dec. 21, local churches and organizations across Orange County are hosting “Purple Flag Memorial” installations to bring attention to the ongoing homelessness crisis. The memorials, organized by Housing Is a Human Right Orange County, serve as a solemn tribute to the lives lost on the streets. Each of the 40 flags represents 10 individuals who died due to homelessness in 2024, a grim statistic highlighting the severity of the issue.
