Frigid Overnight Temps Expected Overnight Saturday & Sunday Across Interior Parts of New York, Pennsylvania, and New England
12/18/24 11:22am EST
Good morning everyone. Clouds are on the increase ahead of our next system due into the Northeast later this afternoon as mild air rushes in. Enjoy this little blip of mild temps, because winter returns this weekend with a vengeance.
A clipper-like system will swoop down late Friday into Saturday, with late development expected off of the coast. That’ll help throw back some clouds and scattered snow showers on Saturday as temperatures tumbles into 30’s, then 20’s for Sunday. Frigid conditions are expected overnight Saturday and Sunday, with some single digit readings will be possible for interior sections of the Northeast & New England.
Meanwhile, today’s system has a very strong cold front attached to it that trails down into West Virginia, Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, and down into Texas. Heavy showers and thunderstorms are associated with this front in a line that stretches hundreds of miles. While we don’t see any current severe weather watches or warnings, we could still still some isolated instances of severe weather.
