Fire on Goodman Road causes 40k in damages

ROANOKE, Va. ( WFXR ) – Roanoke County Fire and Rescue responded to a residential fire in the Mount Pleasant area.

Crews responded on Wednesday, December 18 around 9:51 p.m. to the 4700 block of Goodman Road.

Wagon 6 from Mount Pleasant was the first to arrive on the scene and reported smoke coming from the rear side of the one-story home. The fire was then marked as a working fire and was under control after 15 minutes. The fire was contained to the room where it started.

The three residents made it out of the home safely and no injuries were reported.

The Roanoke County Fire Marshals Office reported the fire was accidental and was caused by smoking materials. Damages are estimated at $40,000.
