EUCLID, Ohio (WJW) – The FOX 8 I-Team found a victim of a hit-and-run reaching out to thank two men, a 19-year-old and an Euclid police officer, that he says saved his life.
Chris Ford says on July 26 his life changed forever. He was riding his motorcycle in Euclid when he was struck by a hit-and-run driver. He was seriously injured and lost part of his leg.
“The part of the story I would like to share is that in less than a minute, a 19-year-old guy named Yo’son Porter came along and put a tourniquet on my leg which absolutely, positively saved my life,” Ford said.

He says a few minutes later, more help arrived.
“A guy named Tanner from the Euclid Police Department came and put a second tourniquet on,” Ford said. “He was the second one to save my life.”
On Thursday, Euclid Police Chief Scott Meyer met with Porter and officer Tanner Doenges to thank them for their quick response.
“These type of injuries are life-threatening,” the chief said. “If the bleed is not controlled quickly, you can lose your life in a very short time. Mr. Porter and officer Doenges did an incredible job.”
