Marcus Allen Carroll, 40, of Dunwoody, is accused of having in his possession about 30 to 40 pounds of mail from various apartment complexes, including the Calibre Brooke Apartment complex, at 100 Calibre Brooke Way in Smyrna, on Nov. 19 at 12:46 a.m., according to an arrest warrant from the Cobb County Police Department.
Carroll had mail from several units that belonged to different individuals and came from separate mailboxes at the mail center. Police were able to view security footage from the complex showing Carroll coming to the mail station of the complex before partially obscuring the camera’s view. Police also viewed photos submitted by the original complainant showing locks pried open. After executing a search warrant, police found multiple tools such as crow bars, pry bars, screw drivers, chisels and a hammer, which are commonly used to force entry into metal mailboxes, according to the warrant.
Carroll is charged with theft by possession of stolen mail; and possession of tools. He was arrested on Nov. 20 at 1:30 a.m. and booked into the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, according to jail records.
