LARGO, Fla. (WFLA) — Elementary students at Madeira Beach Fundamental are being ‘beary’ generous this holiday season.
On Thursday, several students and staff donated bags full of teddy bears to the Rough Riders.
The Rough Riders are a local organization that gifts bears to hospital patients, veterans, and even foster children.
“People have helped us, we help others,” Madeira Beach Fundamental Principal Chris Ateek said. “I think it’s a teachable lesson. It’s a life lesson and this is what we do.”
Due to damages from Hurricane Helene, elementary students of Madeira Beach Fundamental have had to relocate to Walsingham Elementary School in Largo until repairs are completed.
“Many people lost a lot, including our students and families and staff but we wanted to give back to the community and continue this tradition moving forward,” Ateek said.
According to staff, this is the fourth year they have donated bears to the Rough Riders.
