A Maryland woman got the shock of her life while waiting for a meal.
An unidentified woman from Waldorf was at a restaurant, which is also a lottery vendor, when she decided she would pass the time checking on some lottery tickets, the Miami Herald reported. She said she likes to wait until she has “a solid handful” of tickets before scanning them, and so she went through her pile, officials said in a Dec. 18 news release.
The first ticket she scanned was a $2 quick-pick Powerball ticket for the Oct. 19 drawing, lottery officials said. She won $50,0000 by matching four numbers and the Powerball. “It was such a surprise,” the woman said. “It just came out of nowhere.”
She was so over the moon about her win she lost her appetite and changed her order to takeout. “I was so excited that I had to get out of there,” the woman said. “The last thing on my mind was eating.”
