Polk County, FL. – According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, in a dramatic midday operation, a PCSO helicopter pilot’s vigilant surveillance over Wahneta led to the capture of a notorious Polk County criminal on Tuesday, December 17, 2024. The incident, which unfolded around 1:43 pm near the intersection of Rifle Range Road and Bomber Road, showcased the effective coordination between aerial and ground units in law enforcement.
Helicopter pilot Arman, while on routine patrol, spotted a motorcycle exhibiting traffic violations. Quick to act, Arman communicated the situation to ground patrol units, providing precise directions to the errant motorcyclist’s location. This swift exchange enabled a targeted traffic stop by deputies.
Upon stopping the motorcycle, which conspicuously lacked a license plate, the rider identified himself as Charles Phillips. However, a quick verification by deputies revealed his actual identity as 39-year-old Joe Edward Phillips. Further checks disclosed that the motorcycle had been reported stolen from Osceola County since December 28, 2021.
