10-20 inches of snow forecast for Colorado’s ski areas by New Year’s Day Whiteout snow report

Soft powder snow blanketed Colorado’s high country Wednesday, giving skiers and riders delightful conditions to enjoy this week. Loveland Ski Area reported 5 inches of fresh snow for first chair, making for a nice day on the slopes. A drier, calmer, and warmer 3-day stretch is expected through the weekend.

The possibility of fresh snow on Christmas Day is looking even better for the state’s mountains, and there is still a possibility across metro Denver and along parts of the I-25 corridor between Denver and Pueblo for light accumulations.

One more snow event ahead of New Year’s Day should soften and deepen the slopes too.

Recap:

On Thursday, the sun was out in full force across Colorado’s high country, minus some high level clouds above southern Colorado.

Temperatures warmed up a touch, with the National Weather Service in Boulder recording a high of 32 at Copper Mountain, and the NWS office in Grand Junction recording a high of 28 in Aspen.

Forecast:

From Friday through Sunday, temperatures at Colorado’s ski areas and resorts will be slightly warmer ahead of a large shift heading into Monday, with highs into the mid 30s.
