PRATTVILLE − The next administration in Prattville will be making more money.
The Prattville City Council has approved pay raises for the mayor and city council, beginning after the 2025 term begins. State law bars current mayors and councils from giving themselves raises or salary cuts, so any increases have to be for the incoming administrations.
The mayor’s current salary of $90,000 per year, which is in addition to a $1,000 a month vehicle allowance, was set in 2008. In 2025 the pay will go the $110,000 annually for the first two years of the term, and $120,000 annually for the next two years. The $1,000 vehicle allowance remains in place.
The current city council salaries were set in 2004 at $17,500 for council members and $20,000 for the council president. The pay will go to $30,000 for council members and $35,000 for council president.
The president is elected from the seven-member council and presides at meetings and serves as the next in line of succession if the mayor cannot complete their term.
