New restaurants open on Central Avenue in time for the holidays

Location, location, location — three new restaurants have recently opened on West Central Avenue, in time for the holiday crowds.

Vivian Murriel, owner of the Ben & Jerry’s that opened in West Toledo earlier this month, can’t say enough about the franchise’s location at the Central Avenue and Secor Road intersection at the Westgate Village Shopping Center.

In terms of foot traffic and vehicular traffic combined, “this intersection here is the busiest intersection in northwest Ohio, not just in the city of Toledo. … So the location is beautiful,” she said, also noting the proximity to the University of Toledo and a number of schools.

The ice cream parlor offers 32 flavors of ice cream, with 96 combinations. Prices range from $6.50 for a small ice cream to $8.50 for a large one.

The hours are from noon to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, noon to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and back to noon to 9 p.m. on Sunday. The restaurant seats about 12 people. There’s no drive-through, but takeouts are available.
