Following two recent earthquakes in California, the state’s “MyShake App” earthquake warning system is now available for Chromebooks and Mac computers. There’s also been enhancements to functions within the app like its visual and audio alerts and magnitude information. The app is designed to warn people about earthquakes before they strike. Recently, over half-million residents in Northern California received alerts from MyShake before two major earthquakes on December 5th and 9th. The app provided up to 15 seconds of warning, allowing nearly 470-thousand users to prepare during the recent Humboldt earthquake and over 150-thousand users during a Nevada earthquake that was felt by people in many parts of Northern California.
