Community mourns 17-year-old killed in Minneapolis shooting

Authorities have identified the 17-year-old boy who was fatally shot outside his home in Minneapolis Monday evening.

Minneapolis police responded to the 1100 Block of 25th Street East and found Myron Dale James Neadeau with multiple gunshot wounds inside his home, to which he had run after being shot outside.

Despite lifesaving efforts by responders, Neadeau was pronounced dead at the scene.

Information gathered at the scene by police showed that Neadeau was outside with a group when shots were fired. No arrests have been made as of Friday.

A GoFundMe has been organized in his honor to help raise funds for his funeral.

“As we deal with this loss, we are asking for help with resources in order to give our boy all the help he needs for his new journey. Any help for the family is more than appreciated,” the GoFundMe read.

According to GoFundMe, his tribe will hold a spirit fire until Friday, and a wake will be held at the Minneapolis American Indian Center for his family and friends in the cities. His burial in Red Lake will follow.
