Two Oregon dishes make list of best dishes in the U.S. list

A cherry-almond rum baba buried within a vanilla bean soft serve sundae topped with sour cherry “jubilee” sauce and lined with saffron-chili almond crunch. A warm bowl of ’nduja butter-soaked mussels accentuated with fresh lime and mint leaves.

Two separate Oregon restaurants were recognized for their featured dishes when The New York Times announced their “ 26 of the best dishes we ate across the U.S. in 2024 ” on Wednesday.

After traveling to 30 states and sampling at hundreds of restaurants, Times’ writers say the dishes that made the list were the ones “we couldn’t forget.”

Here’s which Oregon dishes made the list.

“Cherries Jubilee” Sundae Special at Sugarpine Drive-In, Troutdale

This seasonal dessert was described by The New York Times as containing “the cherry multiverse, with sweet and sour stone fruits playing their roles among the riot of textures.”

Sugarpine Drive-In created the “Cherries Jubilee” sundae special as part of their summer menu and “Cherry Month” collaboration with the Northwest Cherry Growers association.
