(KRON) — The Pinole Police Department (PPD) said one man is hospitalized in stable condition and another faces an attempted murder charge after a road rage incident between two vehicles on Interstate 80 led to gunfire.

PPD said it received a report at 7:40 p.m. Monday of the freeway shooting. Officers learned from witnesses that the incident began on the eastbound I-80 Appian Way offramp before spilling over onto Appian Way. Investigators said the intense encounter ended on Fitzgerald Drive when one of the drivers shot a passenger inside the other car. Police said the girlfriend of the 24-year-old Richmond victim drove him to a nearby hospital where he was initially treated for critical wounds at a trauma unit.
Police said local surveillance cameras helped them identify a suspect vehicle which was located the next day at 1:45 a.m. along with the suspect. Otis Keller, 25, of Richmond, was arrested and booked at the Martinez Detention Facility on attempted murder.
