Violent Home Invasion Linked to Venezuelan Gang
Aurora Police have identified several members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua (TdA) as suspects in a brutal home invasion and kidnapping that left two victims severely injured.
Chief Todd Chamberlain said that the suspects’ actions and the nature of the crime strongly suggest their involvement with TdA, even though gang affiliation is often difficult to confirm.
Victims Targeted and Extorted
The victims were bound, beaten, stabbed, and kidnapped from their apartment by the suspects, who also stole jewelry. Chamberlain revealed that the couple had been repeatedly harassed and extorted by the gang members, who demanded $500 every two weeks.
Cooperation with Law Enforcement
Aurora Police are collaborating with ICE, DHS, and Homeland Security Investigations to determine the identities and gang affiliations of the suspects. A total of 19 individuals were detained, with eight currently in ICE custody.
Charges and Investigation
Pending charges against the suspects include kidnapping, robbery, assault, extortion, and burglary. Police have not released the names of the arrested individuals.
Community Outreach
Chamberlain stressed that Aurora Police respond to calls and assist victims regardless of their immigration status, emphasizing that they will not conduct mass sweeps in response to gang activity.
