If you live in Florida, you are probably aware of two truths – the state’s population is increasing and Florida has a large population of older individuals. Specifically, Florida had the nation’s fastest-growing population between 2022 and 2023, and around 20% of Florida’s population are seniors, who tend to prioritize quality health care. Together, these two factors mean that Florida could arguably use more hospitals and medical centers. And it is going to be getting a new hospital in the central part of the state.
About The New AdventHealth Hospital Planned In Lakeland, Florida: In late November of 2024, AdventHealth officially closed on the purchase of 218 acres in the vicinity of 3838 Harden Boulevard for $14 million with the intention of building a new hospital.
The city of Lakeland has reportedly approved AdventHealth’s land use application, and the hospital has proposed building a facility with up to 400 beds, 10 stories, a helicopter pad, an offsite emergency department, a medical office building, 204,000 square feet of retail and commercial space, a 250-unit apartment complex, and a large undeveloped area for conservation.
