BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Baton Rouge community members are teaming up to help families this holiday season.
LSU senior and Arkel Constructors intern, Garrett Stuprich, said he’s happy to spend his 23rd birthday in a satisfying way, giving his time to make this season special.
He said he loves being able to give back to people and give them a chance to fill their plates.
“They’ve been so happy and thankful and joyful that we’re out here, actually giving them help and doing the right thing for them,” said Stuprich.
He said the spirit of the holidays is all around, as folks come by the Living Faith Christian Center on Winbourne Avenue, for a well-balanced holiday dinner.
“We’ve been giving out chickens and then all the sides that come with chicken – it’s been a lot!” said Stuprich.
His company and the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank both sponsored the event at the Christian Center.
Across town at the Wildlife and Fisheries building, the group Hunters for the Hungry, along with Wildlife officers, joined forces to give over a hundred pounds of deer meat to those who need it.
“We just want to make sure everybody has food on their plate, and as a department, if we can play a small role in that, we’re very grateful,” said Madison Sheahan, Secretary of the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.
