GRAPHIC: Court documents outline grisly details leading to Saraland shootout with U.S. Marshals

MOBILE, Ala. ( WKRG ) — Gruesome circumstances led to an October shootout with the U.S. Marshals in Saraland, according to court documents.

Jorge Quintero, 41, was tracked down by Marshals and Orange County, Florida, deputies for his alleged role in the gory murder of his girlfriend, Carmen Carrera.

According to an affidavit, Quintero sent suicidal text messages to his family and friends on Oct. 29. Quintero’s roommate, who also received a suicidal message, found that Quintero’s bathtub was full of blood, a knife was left on the side of the tub and Quintero was not there. Quintero’s phone was later discovered near the tub as well. Court documents alleged the blood found at the home belonged to a male.

Quintero and Carrera were in the process of moving into a new apartment together about two miles away. Deputies performed a welfare check at the apartment, where they found bloody towels and blood spots on the walls. The blood at the apartment, according to investigators, belonged to a female.
