Many local governments in the Triangle are closing for Christmas and New Year’s Day. That means trash and recycling pickup schedules may be affected for some residents.
Here’s when Triangle residents should expect their garbage and recycling to be collected. Towns and counties are listed alphabetically.
Apex holiday trash schedule
Apex residents whose garbage collection day falls on Dec. 25, Dec. 26 or Dec. 27 will be delayed one day , to Dec. 26, Dec. 27 and Dec. 28, respectively, for Christmas.
Residents whose typical collection day falls on Jan. 1, Jan. 2 or Jan. 3 will also be delayed one day , to Jan. 2, Jan. 3 and Jan. 4, respectively.

Carrboro holiday trash schedule
Residents whose garbage collection typically occurs Wednesday, Thursday or Friday are affected by the Christmas holiday.
- Wednesday collection will be Monday, Dec. 23 .
- Thursday collection will be Friday, Dec. 27 .
- Friday collection will be Monday, Dec. 30 .
