Mobile police arrest man after he allegedly leads them on chase

MOBILE, Ala. ( WKRG ) — Mobile police officers arrested a man Thursday evening after he allegedly led them on a car and foot chase.

According to an MPD news release, officers tried to conduct a traffic stop in the area of Halls Mill Road and McVay Drive around 5:30 p.m., but the driver refused to stop.

The vehicle left the road while on Halls Mill Road before causing damage to a fence and sign, according to officials.

After the crash, the man allegedly got out of the vehicle and led the man on a foot chase.

Officials said an MPD K-9 helped apprehend the man.

33-year-old Jonathan Xavier Powell was arrested and charged with felony attempt to elude, possession of a controlled substance, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest and first-degree possession of marijuana.
