Winter weather advisory issued as holiday travelers hit the road

( WJET/WFXP ) — Heading into the holiday weekend, a winter weather advisory has been issued giving travelers the warning to practice safe driving on the road.

More lake-effect snow is expected to hit the surrounding regions in Erie County, PA, Ashtabula, OH, and Chautauqua County, NY.

However, this will not bring in as much snow as Black Friday’s snowstorm, but drivers should watch out for slick travel on the roads.

Erie County, PA

The advisory will last from Friday evening until 10 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21.

Meteorologist Craig Flint said lake effect snow will become localized by Saturday. The snow amounts will be light & manageable through Friday, with a general 1-3 inches. The snow gets a boost later Friday night from the lake, with additional localized 2-6 inches through Saturday.

Snow amounts will be lighter close to the immediate lakeshore, and will gradually drop off towards the Crawford County border.

Ashtabula County, OH

The advisory will last from Friday evening until 10 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21.
