We’re waking up to temperatures well into the 30s and even a few 20s across the area as cold air has filtered in behind a big area of low pressure now located of the northeast coast of the U.S. It’s going to be a chilly weekend with highs only in the low 50s, and factor a slight breeze and it’s going to feel even cooler. Overnight lows this weekend into Monday morning will be down around freezing, so expect some morning frost.
We will warm up as we head toward Christmas with highs on Monday in the mid 50s, then low 60s by Tuesday, eventually reaching the mid 60s by next weekend. Overnight lows will still be a little chilly until the end of the week, where by then, cloudy overnight conditions will keep our lows in the upper 40s to low 50s.
CHRISTMAS FORECAST: Christmas Eve is looking great with mostly sunny skies and highs in the low 60s. Christmas morning lows will be in the upper 30s to low 40s, so not too terribly cold for Santa to make his rounds. Christmas Day will feature a mix of sun and clouds with a stray shower possible, but not much rain is expected.
