New Mexico is experiencing an unseasonably warm stretch, with high temperatures soaring 10-20°F above average through Christmas Eve. Breezy conditions are expected Sunday along the I-40 corridor in eastern parts of the state, with temperatures nearing record highs in some areas.
A shift in weather is predicted for Christmas Day as a storm system moves in, bringing the potential for accumulating snow across the northern mountains and Raton Pass. Stronger west winds are also expected for the central and southern highlands.
Looking ahead, another weaker Pacific system may bring additional light snow showers to the northern and western highlands late next week, marking a cooler end to the holiday season.
