Four contestants competed for the title of the most convincing Chappell Roan look-alike outside of 20/20 Vintage on Saturday.
Participants in the contest, hosted by the downtown shop, had a chance to win cash prizes, donated gifts cards and more.
Monica Ellison, owner of 20/20 Vintage, said she came up with the idea for the event a week prior. She said after witnessing the Grammy-nominated singer live at the Austin City Limits Music Festival, she fell in love with her.
“I’ve seen so much live music in my time, but the amount of energy at that show was incredible,” Ellison said. “Her music is so youthful, and I think we have to step back as adults and bring that inner child out.”
There was a $10 entry fee for contestants, with all proceeds going to the Coastal Bend Wellness Foundation.
One by one, contestants Sarah Lopez, Ashley Buchanan, Kiki Hay and Cameron Rhodes lip-synched to songs by Chappell Roan, including “Hot to Go!” and “My Kink is Karma.”
Soon afterward, three judges walked inside to quietly deliberate the awards for the four.
