AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – With four days left until Christmas, one local organization is working to ensure every kid has presents under the tree.
“I love to help the community service you know sometimes you get; you never know you could get blessed helping others,” said Alaysia Robinson, a volunteer.
It’s a Holiday tradition in Augusta – the 21st year of the James Brown Family Foundation Toy Giveaway. With demolition underway to make room for a new James Brown Arena, this year’s event was held at May Park. But the goal remains the same.
“This provides gifts for kids. Just seeing their faces light up with certain toys it fills me up, and I know that the kids will remember this, and they feel they’re not left out for Christmas as well,” said Mrs. Mckelvey , a volunteer.
Each child walks away with four or more toys or a bike and has a chance to take photos with Santa and Superheroes. around 400 children were signed up for the Toy Giveaway.
“I love the things they do for the community, like bikes and toys. It’s just every little thing like helps so it really is a big help,” said Alissia Lewis, a parent.
