In a continued commitment to the central Ohio area, Google will donate over $1.1 million to 13 central Ohio nonprofits.
According to a Dec. 4 announcement, the Google funding is intended to support local initiatives as the corporation operates three data centers in Ohio — in Columbus, Lancaster and New Albany.
As is reflected in the 13 nonprofits listed below, Google prioritized work in education, STEM , opioid addiction and digital equity programs.
In the release, Winton Steward, Google’s director of government affairs in Ohio, said he believes Google believes addressing needs in these areas are important to building strong communities.
“The organizations we’re supporting in Central Ohio are tackling these challenges head-on, each playing a unique role in making the region stronger and more inclusive,” he said in the release.
“We hope to empower the collective good and ensure that everyone has the opportunity to thrive.”
