Florida Dunkin’ Shut Down After Failing State Inspection: Here’s What Went Down

Alright, donut fans, here’s some piping hot news about one Florida Dunkin’ that recently had to shut its doors—but not for a good reason. If you’re in Tampa and you’ve grabbed coffee or a quick snack at the Dunkin’ on 8714 W Hillsborough Avenue, you might want to take a seat for this one.

We all know Dunkin’ (formerly Dunkin’ Donuts until they dropped the “Donuts” in 2018 to prove they’re more than just sugary rings of joy). They’re everywhere—seriously, there are over 13,000 locations worldwide, and Florida alone is home to more than 900 of them.

Why Was It Shut Down?

So, what happened? Well, inspectors from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation popped in for a routine check on December 6, 2024, and let’s just say it wasn’t pretty. Seven violations were found, ranging from minor to downright concerning:

  • Basic Violations: An employee’s purse chilling on the prep table (gross) and standing water on the floor.
  • Intermediate Violations: No proof of employee training and the handwashing sink being inaccessible.
  • High-Priority Violations (the big no-nos): An employee didn’t wash their hands before putting on gloves, raw sewage was spotted on the ground, and wastewater was backing up in the kitchen floor drains.
