So far, thirteen states reported high or very high levels of flu-like illness last week, including Georgia.

That’s almost double from the week before.

Channel 2 Action News spoke with a doctor at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, where they are making sure parents are ready to navigate the flu and cold season.

“Parents know their children the best. So, if a parent is concerned about the way a child is breathing or a child is not able to drink or eat, well, that’s an indication that they should be brought to medical attention,” Dr. Andi Shane said.

The CDC says no flu strain seems to be dominant and that it is too early in the season to know how good a match the flu vaccine will be.
