Woman accused of punching child during Pinellas County school conference

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — A woman was arrested Thursday for punching a student at a Pinellas County school, an affidavit revealed.

Shatoya Simmons, 36, is accused of punching a victim after she arrived at the school to meet with an administration for a conference regarding an issue with the child.

According to the document, Simmons received information about the victim dating another girl and was “not happy about that information.”

Simmons reportedly called the victim to get closer, in which she then punched them in the face with a closed fist.

A witness told St. Petersburg police that Simmons struck the child “very hard” and was angry.

In the affidavit, Simmons has some relationship with the victim, but the exact connection to them has been redacted.

Simmons was arrested and being held without bond.
