YORK COUNTY, Pa. – Seven candles and seven pairs of shoes sat on the front steps of Union Lutheran Church in downtown York on Saturday. The display was part of the church’s annual Longest Night Vigil, which honors those who’ve died living on the street; the event is recognized by groups nationwide.
