ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – After shutting down its Coronado Center location earlier this month, Lucky Paws Animal Shelter hosted its first mobile adoption event Saturday in Old Town. At the time of the closure of its brick-and-mortar location, Lucky Paws said the adoption center continued to get lower foot traffic and fewer visitors over the years.
Officials with the shelter say they need extra help to give the pets homes as they are still receiving more animals than are being adopted. “We’re also providing people with companions. It’s not just us benefiting from you adopting our dogs. It’s you benefitting. You’re getting a companion, you’re getting a family member, you’re getting somebody to work with; to spend your time with,” says adoption councilor Jacqueline Gallegos. “It’s a benefit on both ends.”
According to the city’s website, the Lucky Paws adoption van will be at Boofy’s Best for Pets on Golf Course near Paseo del Norte on Saturday, December 28 from 10:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Adoption fees will be waived for all pets.
