Old Town burglary suspect released until trial

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A man accused of stealing around $10,000 worth of merchandise, including Pokemon cards, from an Old Town business will be released from custody. Brian Bettis is accused of stealing from Old Town Hobbies and Games earlier this month .

Bettis was arrested by the Albuquerque Police Department on Friday. Despite a criminal record in at least two other states, prosecutors did not file a motion to keep Bettis in custody, so a judge released him from MDC on Saturday.

Prosecutors asked for Bettis to not be allowed back in the Old Town area, but a judge said the area boundaries would not be clear and ordered him to stay away from the business instead.
