Around 10:36 p.m. on Friday, the Washington State Patrol answered a call of a car crash on the Southbound I-5 to I-90 ramp.
The trooper arrived to find a car that had crashed into a barrier causing extensive damage.
The roadway was closed to allow for emergency services and to investigate the crash.
According to WSP, the car left the roadway to the left and struck the guardrail where the road divided.
After investigating the crash, WSP arrested the 47-year-old driver on suspicion of driving under the influence.
The passenger in the car was injured and taken to Harborview Medical Center.
“The driver is in custody for suspected impairment as the passenger has broken bones,” wrote Trooper Rick Johnson in an X post.
The road was reopened at 1:34 a.m. on Saturday. It had been closed for about four hours and twenty minutes.
