Knoxville murder suspect arrested in Nashville while boarding a bus

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — A man facing charges in connection to a fatal Knoxville shooting was taken into custody in Nashville on Sunday.

Kevin Martinez was arrested in Nashville as he was boarding a Greyhound Bus, a Knoxville Police Department spokesperson said. He is set to be transported back to Knoxville in the coming days.

Martinez, 21, has been charged with first-degree murder and aggravated assault in connection to a December 19 shooting in Knoxville that left one dead and another hospitalized.

Knoxville Police responded to the North Hills Apartments on Orchard Avenue around 3:40 a.m. for a report of a gunshot victim. While responding to that call, officers spotted a car that had crashed into a fence in the 2900 block of Washington Pike.

The driver, identified as 38-year-old Ernest Glenn, was found unresponsive and suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Responding personnel attempted life-saving care but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers who responded to the North Hills Apartments located another gunshot victim who was transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center.
