Bay City News

A man was arrested early Sunday morning in the Bear Creek District of Stockton for allegedly holding a knife to a person’s throat and other crimes, according to police.

Just before 6 a.m., a 52-year-old man was in his home in the 5200 block of Cosumnes Drive when the suspect, 23-year-old Maxwell Denero, allegedly threatened him with a knife. Denero allegedly pushed the victim against the wall and pressed the knife against him, making repeated threats, police said.

Officers eventually entered the residence and took Denero into custody. Police said a handcuffed Denero resisted and was placed in a wrap device to prevent him from harming himself or the officers.

Denero was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, making criminal threats with the intent to terrorize, false imprisonment, kidnapping, and resisting arrest. He is being held on $680,000 bail.
