2 Tennessee men arrested after Adair County crash kills juvenile, injures 4

COLUMBIA, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — State police said one juvenile is dead and four others were injured in a crash Saturday afternoon in Adair County.

According to Kentucky State Police (KSP), the crash happened around 4:30 p.m. CST on the Kentucky Route 55 Bypass near the intersection with Pelham Branch Road.

Investigators said 46-year-old Joel Hammack of Crossville, Tennessee, was speeding when his truck rear-ended 62-year-old Townya Ritzie’s car, forcing it off the roadway and causing it to overturn.

The coroner pronounced a juvenile from Ritzie’s car dead on the scene, per KSP. Four people were taken to the hospital: two seriously injured passengers—a juvenile and a 66-year-old—as well as Ritzie, of Columbia, and another juvenile with minor injuries.
