A skiing excursion in Colorado turned into a rescue mission after a gondola malfunction stranded 174 skiers and snowboarders. The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon at Winter Park Resort.

Evacuations began swiftly, and most were safely rescued by 5 p.m. However, due to fading daylight, the remaining 10% of skiers took longer to evacuate. By 6 p.m., all guests were safely rescued by the resort’s ski patrol, who are trained for such emergencies.

The gondola, an enclosed ski lift, malfunctioned, causing it to stop abruptly. Resort spokesperson Jen Miller stated that the faulty part was being replaced.

As a gesture of goodwill, stranded guests received $10 vouchers and two free lift passes for future use.
